The Bottom Line (TL;DR)

I paired a responsive WordPress redesign with a self-service pickup scheduler. DAV Louisville reported 35% more scheduled donation appointments, 50+ hours of staff and volunteer time saved per week, and $6,000 in annual savings.

The Challenge

Disabled American Veterans supports veterans and their families. Its Kentucky thrift stores help fund that work by selling donated goods, so keeping donation pickups on schedule matters.

Volunteers used to coordinate pickups manually throughout the week. During the pandemic, limited staffing made it harder to recruit and train volunteers, and the store struggled to schedule pickups reliably. DAV also needed a faster, easier-to-navigate website that could attract donors and drive sign-ups.

The Solution

I designed and built a responsive WordPress site with a clearer sitemap and improved load performance. I also set up online pickup booking and connected it to the team’s routing workflow.

Donors booked through Acuity Scheduling. Zapier and Make passed the appointment details into Coda, where staff could filter bookings and generate printable route reports for drivers.

From donation booking to pickup route

  1. Book a pickup

Donors choose an appointment through Acuity Scheduling.

  2. Collect appointment details

Zapier and Make send scheduling data to a Coda database that staff can filter.

  3. Print driver routes

The team uses Coda reports to give drivers a printable route for donation pickups.

The Results

The original case study recorded gains in search visibility, site traffic, and form submissions after the redesign. Scheduled donation appointments rose 35%.

The scheduling workflow reduced manual coordination. DAV reported more than 50 hours saved each week and $6,000 in annual cost savings.
